Hopes were very high from Abhinay Deo after Delhi Belly. Let’s not get into whether thr director matched up to his debut film or not, let’s just embrace this delightful film for just one reason. Films that entertain and engage are very few.
Alekh (Story) – Patkatha (Screenplay)
What happens when a husband finds out his wife’s rendezvous with her lover, kill or confront or blackmail and we all know what it is through the title and trailer.
But blackmailing is never that simple. With such an interesting plot at hand, the script spirals out, not making chaos but making the situations unconvincing. And that’s the only big flaw the movie had.
The script reminds you of Delhi Belly, old songs opted for background music, running half naked in the by lanes, combination of humor and sarcasm, there is flash in every scene written by Parveez Sheikh.
Humor isn’t forced, the climax will be liked by some. Even with all the predictability and unbelievabilty, one can’t foresee the next scene. Pradhuman Singh’s hilarious dialogues delivered by such great actors is one of the film’s highlights.
Irrfan Khan is the best thing that can happen to any film, and in a film like Blackmail, where humor has to come out naturally, Irrfan Khan is a blessing. No matter how his characters are written, he delivers them in the most basic and yet most interesting way.
Kriti Kulhari is great in her beautifully tough avatar. Arunoday Singh is what makes this film interesting to another level. Divya Dutta is befitting in her role, is always highly convincing in her roles, and always a charm to watch. Pradhuman Singh , one actor that will make his presence felt in any room full of wonderful actors.
Geet Sangeet (Music)
Songs are perfectly in sync with the film, and placed and uses even more perfectly.
Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)
It’s entertaining, and that’s about it. Irrfan
