Prakash Jha is one filmmaker who always tries to give his audiences something new and something that’s related to society. This time, in his web series, Aashram, he has decided to showcase us the reality of godmen in the country and and what happens inside these Aashrams of the godmen.
The series starts in the present day when a girl named Pammi (Aditi Pohankar) is attacking a few people in the hostel of Aashram. Soon, we are taken to the flashback and introduced to Kashipurwale Baba (Bobby Deol). Pammi becomes the devotee of Baba and soon starts staying in his hostel. On the other hand, there’s a dark secret of Baba which might be revealed soon. The series moves forward with some really interesting things that keep us hooked throughout.
Jha has narrated the series very well and it is mounted on a scale that usually the filmmaker’s movies are made on. It is based in a small town, so we connect with the story quite easily.
Bobby Deol in his second innings as an actor is surely doing some good stuff. After Class of 83, he has now impressed us a lot in Aashram. He gets into the skin of the character amazingly. Aditi Pohankar is damn good in her role, after SHE, the actress once again proves her mettle. Other actors like Anupriya Goenka, Darshan Kumar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, and Adhyayan Suman, all have done a great job.
Also, the background score of the web series is quite good and is very effective during the dramatic scenes.
On the whole, Aashram is an interesting and entertaining series. In this lockdown, you should surely binge-watch it on MX Player.
