A realization that a genius is never understood in its own time !

Filmy Digest

Are there any films from where you just remember the character and you remember the scenes because of that one character only? And where you don’t find the movie as substantial as that character? This is that film.

A film on a genius, but a film not so genius and more of an agenda film (this is coming from a person who has bought Sanjaya Baru’s but hasn’t read it).

Watch it If you like -

Nirmata (Makers)

Intention is political, Idea to present a sort of biopic on the most misunderstood PM is good, but it is one-sided, half-cooked, and cant be relied upon. Somehow the timing of film by the makers says it all an agenda

Alekh (Story) – Patkatha (Screenplay)

We just hope that the book is different, even if it’s one sided, we expect it to be more humble towards the one person who did and could have done more wonders for our country.

After the film, it is difficult to treat it as a movie and review it, especially when the intentional is quite clear.

Spoilers Ahead: There was once a genius who was not only misunderstood but was also misused. And he still is misused. Reel life showed the book release and real life released the film, just as close as possible to the elections. So anyway, the film tried to give credit but also sort of disrespectful, for say, if you watch the film, you will realize the voice modulation has been too faked. The tribute it is trying to pay to our ex PM should have at least kept facts clear, he was soft spoken but not even close to the voice used in the film. It’s slow, that’s okay. It’s abrupt, that’s not how a film should be. There are bumps is scenes, flaws in editing. The interesting scenes are the ones where Akshay Khanna as Sanjaya Baru comes in, the best scenes are the one where Anupam Kher portrays the vision our ex PM had.

Abhineta (Actors)

Anupam Kher as Dr. Manmohan Singh is amazing. Though he should have been guided about the kind of flaws the portrayal of the character had. Akshay Khanna as Sanajaya Baru is just too good. Not just his role, but the actor he is, superb. Arjun Mathur as Rahul does his job well, his role was supposed to look irritable and the actor implemented that nicely. Suzanne Bernet as Sonia Gandhi is very believable and convincing, uncompromising and effortless.

Geet Sangeet (Music)

It reminds one of Kal Ho Na Ho score. It also kills the dialogue at many instances.

Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)

We just the film could have done justice to its protagonist instead of focusing on how he was misused. Because end of the day, he and his legacy are still being misused for political propagandas. We are going with 3 stars for Anupam Kher’s and Akshay Khanna’s performance.
