Netflix is one platform where we have seen many Indian original films being released. After Guilty, Bun Maska and others, Netflix has released a film titled Choked. The movie is directed by Anurag Kashyap, so of course, we would expect some cuss words, blood bath, violence and all. But well, it is not what you would expect from an Anurag Kashyap film.

Choked is about a middle-class family, Sarita (Saiyami Kher), her husband Sushant (Roshan Mathew), and their child Sameer. Sushant is an unemployed man and it is Sarita who is working and taking care of the family. Well, one day, she tries to repair the choked pipeline of her washbasin and from it, money comes out. This starts happening regularly and Sarita is very happy about it. But soon, it takes a turn when demonetization happens.

The story of the film is written by Nihit Bhave and he has come up with a good concept. Well, demonetization is just one of the elements of the film, but it is surely one of the best parts of it. The sequences showcasing how people had gone berserk after the announcement of demonetization is awesome. Kashyap has narrated the film quite well. This would be his only film where the narration is very simple and sober.

Talking about performances, Saiyami Kher is damn good in her role. We really wonder why we don’t get to see her in more movies. Roshan Mathew is fantastic; his performance is surely one of the highlights of the film. Amruta Subhash has been given some amazing sequences and she will make you laugh out loud with her act. However, Rajshree Despande is wasted.

Overall, Choked is a decent film and something that we didn’t expect from Anurag Kashyap. So, do watch it.
