Nirmata (Makers)

David Dhawan is one filmmaker who has got an interest in remaking his own movies. After Judwaa, now he has remade his directorial Coolie No. 1. The veteran filmmaker clearly knew what he had to offer to the audiences and he has made an entertaining film, but well, not to forget it has a bit of an outdated feel to it.

Alekh (Story) – Patkatha (Screenplay)

So, the story of the film is the same. There’s Jeffery Rozario (Paresh Rawal) who wants his daughter Sarah (Sara Ali Khan) to get married to a rich man. One day, Jeffery insults Pandit Jai Kishen (Javed Jaffrey) for getting a middle-class family’s proposal for his daughter. So, Pandit Ji decides to take revenge by getting his daughter married to Raju Coolie (Varun Dhawan). He presents him as a rich man named Raj, and then Raj and Sarah get married. What next? Well, if you have seen the 1995 release film you would know what’s next…

The screenplay of the film has been changed. It’s not an exact copy-paste, the situations, and the placing of the songs has been changed. The first half of the film is good, but the second half goes haywire and then picks up in the climax.

Abhineta (Actors)

Varun Dhawan is good, but of course, he can’t reach the level of Govinda. However, Sara is a surprise here and has done a good job. Paresh Rawal is strictly average. Sahil Vaid and Shikha Talsania don’t have much to do. Johnny Lever is amazing and Rajpal Yadav is okay.

Geet Sangeet (Music)

The songs are good, and the recreated versions Husn Hai Suhana and Main Toh Raste Se Ja Raha Tha have been used well.

Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)

David Dhawan successfully makes us laugh out loud once again. So, you can surely watch Coolie No. 1 at least once.
