Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is all set to hit the screens on February 14. But before the release, we have the first reviews for you, from a special screening that was held in Berlin Berlin Film Festival.

Anupama Chopra of Film Companion: “One way to view Gully Boy is simply as a hugely entertaining “underdog with a dream” story”.

Rajeev Masand: “It has many layers, it’s coming of age, about understanding one’s expressions which in this case is through poetry and rap. It’s a beautiful love story and at some level, it’s a love letter to Mumbai. What powers these different narratives are essentially two things – the extra-ordinary performance from Ranveer Singh and the music and lyrics which has as much feeling as the story and performance.”

Cameron Bailey, artistic director at the Toronto International Film Festival tweeted: “Watched the GULLY BOY world premiere tonight in a packed house with @RanveerOfficial, @aliaa08 & @ZoyaAkhtarOff present. Biggest cheers I’ve heard in 20+ years at the Berlinale.”
