The digital world is offering some really good content. While thriller and erotica have been ruling OTT platforms, Amazon Prime is here with their original digital sitcom Mind The Malhotras. The show is directed by Sahil Sangha and stars Mini Mathur, Cyrus Sahukar, Denzil Smith and Sushmita Mukherjee. The web show is based on Israeli comedy La Famiglia.

The first thing that we would like to tell everyone in this review is that every middle-aged couple will relate to the show very well. The concept of the series is quite good, the makers have very well shown the issues that a middle-aged couple would be facing in their day-to-day life. But that doesn’t mean the series is simply perfect. While the basic story of the show is quite good, the screenplay and the narration falters at a lot of places.

There are very few situations that would actually make you go laugh out loud. Maybe because the narration is quite dull. Even some of the scenes look incomplete. While we are watching a scene we expect that the next point in the scene will be hilarious, but that doesn’t happen and the scene just ends. The trailer promised that this will be a show that will make us go rolling on the floor laughing, but unfortunately, that doesn’t happen. It has good funny moments, but sadly they are very few.

Cyrus Sahukar is known for his fantastic comic timing and he is good in his part. But as viewer, we expected more from him. The surprise here is Mini Mathur. We all remember Mini Mathur as someone who hosted Indian Idol. She is undoubtedly the best host we have seen on Indian television. But well, she is a great actress too. Mathur is the soul of the show and shines throughout. Talents like Denzil Smith and Sushmita Mukherjee are totally wasted.

On the whole, Mind The Malhotras is an average digital sitcom. If you are bored and have nothing to do in life, then this one would be a good choice to pass some time.

Ratings: 2.5/5

P.S. An extra half star only for Mini Mathur.
