Ajay Bahl, who directed 2012 release B.A Pass (a sleeper hit), has helmed Section 375. There’s no doubt that Bahl is a good filmmaker and he has very well narration Section 375. He has very well looked into the minute details in the film and that impresses us. Even the sets are techincally perfect especially, the courtroom.
Alekh (Story) – Patkatha (Screenplay)
So, what is Section 375 all about. A filmmaker named Rohan (Rahul Bhat) is accused of raping a junior costume designer Anjali (Meera Chopra). He is sentenced for 10 years in session court, but the case goes to High Court and then defence lawyer Tarun Saluja (Akshaye Khanna) and prosecution lawyer Hiral Gandhi (Richa Chadha) fight it out in the courtroom.
The story is written by Manish Gupta and he has done his research quite well. The movie looks very relevant in today’s times and leaves us with a question that is every rape accused actually a criminal. The highlight of the film is the dialogues. There are some fantastic dialogues in the movie that will make you applaud the writer. While the first half is damn interesting, the seconed half post-interval becomes a bit dull. But the movie then once again picks up the momentum keeping you hooked till the climax.
Why the hell filmmakers don’t cast Akshaye Khanna in more movies? He simply excellent in Section 375. From the first scene to the last scene, it is Akshaye Khanna who steals the show. Richa Chadha is simply bad. We fail to understand that an actress, who used to give some fantastic performances earlier, how come she has become such a weak performer. Rahul Bhat is fine and Meera Chopra too impresses.
Geet Sangeet (Music)
There’s no scope of music in the film and even the background score doesn’t do much to support the movie.
Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)
Section 375 is a relevant courtroom drama with twist and turns that will keep you hooked throughout.
