In the trailer itself, the makers cleared that the movie is about people who are into the business of education and help rich students to pass in the exams by doing cheating. Is the concept sounding similar? Well yes, we saw a movie named Why Cheat India which had a similar storyline. That movie too wasn’t a great watch and neither Setters is.
Alekh (Story) – Patkatha (Screenplay)
So what is Setters about? Apurva (Shreyas Talpade) is working for Bhaiya Ji (Pavan Malhotra) and they are into the business of leaking papers and helping kids to pass exams of railways, engineering, medical and others. Aditya (Aftab Shivdasani) is a cop and he has been given the job to track these setters down.
The basic concept of the film is good, but the movie is messed up. It started on a very good note, the first 10 mins are the most and the only engaging part of the film, but then the weak screenplay, bad editing, and unnecessary scenes just stretch the film and make this one a boring watch. There are scenes which should have been intense and gripping, but it looked funny and we were laughing while watching the film. Believe us, just a few minutes into the second half and we start feeling when will this movie end.
When it comes to actors, it is only Shreyas Talpade that is good. But we still feel that he deserves better. Aftab Shivdasani is miscast here. The cop role didn’t suit him at all and his acting too wasn’t impressive. Pavan Malhotra is just shouting in the whole film and doing nothing. Ishita Dutta and Sonnalli Seygall are ‘just there’ like literally ‘just there’ doing nothing. Vijay Raaz is wasted but impresses with his act whenever he appears on the screen.
Geet Sangeet (Music)
It was a couple of days ago, we saw a movie titled Blank and we were in love with the background score of the film. A thriller movie needs a good background score, but in Setters it is just pale.
Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)
Setters is a boring film that will put you to sleep. So, better sit at home and enjoy some of the episodes of Crime Patrol on TV.
