Not at all a golden bird
When was the last time you saw a good film based on dacoits? Paan Singh Tomar or maybe Bandit Queen. Dacoit drama is a genre not many filmmakers have explored and after many years Abhishek Chaubey has brought a dacoit drama on the big screen with Sonchiriya, but what a mess it is.
Watch it If you like -
Some bad looking man using cuss words and speaking in language which you won’t understand.
But Beware of -
It drags too much. Looks like the makers forgot that a film requires editing

Alekh (Story) – Patkatha (Screenplay)
This movie is a perfect example of lazy writing. Writers got their basic plot and they thought how should we turn it into a 2 hour plus film, so they started writing long never ending sequences that makes you feel sleepy. In the first half the film’s story was decent but the second half of the movie goes haywire and too many things are happening that will confuse you.
The only thing that impresses here is that Chaubey has taken care about the atmosphere of the film. The locations are perfect and the actors’ look gets full marks. But all these things go in vain because of the half baked story and screenplay.
This film has some great actors like Manoj Bajpyee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. All these three actors have done a very good job. Sushant Singh Rajput too leaves a mark. But it is Bhumi Pednekar who steals the show with a fantastic performance.
Geet Sangeet (Music)
Music doesn’t really have an important role to play. There are songs that play in the background, but you hardly concentrate on them.
Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)
Abhishek Chaubey fails to give us a good dacoit drama with Sonchiriya. It lacks entertainment as well as the strong content factor.
