Earlier titled as Salute, the Rakesh Sharma biopic has its official new title now, Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. Written by Anjum Rajabali who has written films like Ghulam, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Raajneeti, this biopic on Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian astronaut is co-produced by Roy Kapur Films.
This is former CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, Siddharth Roy Kapur’s new production house whose first film has already gone on the floor, The Sky Is Pink with Priyanka Chopra, Zaira Wasim and Farhan Akhtar.
A little trivia on the film’s title from our side is, when Indira Gandhi asked Rakesh Sharma how India looked from outer space on his return, he replied ‘Saare Jahan Se Achcha’. May be this is the reason for the film’s title and is apt too.
Shah Rukh Khan is set to play the lead role of this film that goes on floors in February. As for the leading lady, earlier there were reports that Bhumi Pednekar has been roped, but a few days ago, another report suggested that the makers have finalized Rani Mukerji.
Tentatively a Christmas 2019 release, an official announcement on things is awaited.
