The film is overwhelming when you see the hard work of SRK, Anushka and Katrina
An out and out entertainment film, it is natural to find believability and predictability flaws.
But to see ShahRukh Khan put in so much effort, walking a mile extra just to entertain us, to see Anushka Sharma put in her very best and Katrina out in her fabulous side, we just dropped our critic gauge and gave in and enjoyed the movie.
What a tricky and gutsy attempt by the team to present our very favorite main lead in a not-so-perfect-deglamorized-avatar! And hats off to SRK for accepting that and doing that wonderfully.
Watch it If you like -
Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s act are fabulous, Humor is in perfect amount, Entertaining throughout except pre-climax
But Beware of -
Very common story made to look extra ordinary by unusual characters, Unconvincing screenplay, Lengthy duration
Read Detail Review
First collaboration of Anand L Rai and SRK’s production houses, combo of duo who have done wonders in their respective fields, as director and as an actor. And as once said by Anand Rai, mujhe kahaani suna ne main bada maza aata hai, I feel elated while narrating a story, the narration hence there was throughout gripping.
Alekh (Story) – Patkatha (Screenplay)
Having said gripping, all our attention was with the film, till the end, no matter how unconvincing and how drastic it got with the turn of events.
Here, we can’t tell you the story or what the title means in the movie (which we were quite amused to find out), its just that the film has everything. A mix of genres and a mix of locations too, making it a nice package of entertainment, but also making it confusing and highly fictitious.
Guess that’s what film making is, to present the unimaginable at times, else who would have Shah Rukh Khan as a dwarf, and that it will turn out to be a delight, right?
Special mention goes to VFX, breathing taking skills there to present us with Bauua Singh. The first half was funny, had the right Anand L Rai desi dose and perfect amount of SRK’s charm and dimples. The second half got a bit far-fetched and stretched out. But all in all, the movie made us laugh with its humor quotient, made us happy with all that romance and entertainment, and stunned us with the roles etched out.
The characterization of actors is so special and strong that we think script took a back seat.
The day we saw Bauua singh urf SRK as dwarf, everyone was super excited. Don’t take him lightly, he might be short, but he has all the attitude of any normal guy has, he is funny, selfish, insensitive, and love able, not that we mean that these are the qualities of a normal guy.
Anyway, so the characterization is very unique and that’s the plus point. SRK is simply too good to be true, all this while we thought that the height was the cute factor in Bauua Singh, we were mistaken, it was SRK’s charm in that role that made it so adorable. For Anushka, to sit on a wheel chair for the full length of the movie, she has done a beyond fabulous job in terms of gestures and body language. Though we wished her make-up should have been less to accentuate her brilliant effort for the role.
Let’s come to our Kat, doesn’t have that much scenes, but the confidence and attitude she oozes out is tremendous. Her dialogue delivery is so different and bang on. Guess, she was playing herself and she did it well.
Mohammed Zeyshan, the guy has one of the best lines after SRK. The actor always wins hearts always stands out, no matter what role. Films without actors like him are truly hollow and zero.
Geet Sangeet (Music)
There used to be times when every SRK movie had hit songs, that too with repeat value. But that has changed in the past few years. Same goes here, for us, just one song stands out for us, Mera Naam Tu, but that too shouldn’t have been used in full length in the movie.
Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)
When we talk about the performances, zero is a hero for us, in terms of hard work and effort. Otherwise, ok no the whole, the film is a typical romance drama had it not been tweaked with unusual roles of SRK and Anushka.
